A man whose body was found Monday afternoon in a Hempstead parking lot died by suicide, Nassau County police said Tuesday.
The man's body was discovered in a parking lot behind McHebes, a bar at 722 Fulton St., adjacent to the Hempstead Turnpike, police said. He appeared to be in his late 40s.
Discovery of the body was reported to Hempstead Village police shortly after 2:30 p.m. Monday, officials said.
Police from agencies investigating at the scene Monday night had declined to comment.
The medical examiner's office determined the death was a suicide, Nassau County police said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.
