Nassau police said early Wednesday they are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in front of an Inwood residence Tuesday night.

Police said Fourth Precinct officers responded at about 6:30 p.m. to James Street after getting a 911 call from a passerby who saw a man's body in front of the residence. Nassau's Homicide Squad is investigating the death.

The victim had not been identified as of early Wednesday but was possibly in his 20s, police said.

The cause of death is pending the completion of the medical examiner's report, police said. No further information was available early Wednesday.
