Nassau County has set up a phone number and e-mail address for residents to report potholes, the county executive said in a news release.

Potholes can be reported by e-mailing pothole_emergencies@nassaucountyny.gov or by calling 516-571-6900, Edward Mangano said in the release Friday.

"Potholes created by these storms can be dangerous," Mangano said. "The dedicated men and women of our Department of Public Works are working tirelessly to respond to calls for help with potholes."

Separately, the Long Island Contractors' Association issued an "emergency warning to government transportation agencies" that "relatively mild temperatures, a steady rainfall, melting snow and a coming deep freeze" will lead to "a literal explosion of new potholes this coming week."

The group says it represents the interests of more than 150 heavy construction general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and industry supporters, mainly in the transportation construction industry.
