Nassau lifts advisory against swimming at four North Shore beaches

The Nassau County Department of Health said Tuesday it has lifted an advisory against swimming at four North Shore beaches.

The agency issued the advisory Monday, saying that storm water runoff from heavy rains could elevate bacteria levels at Creek Club in Lattingtown, North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington, Piping Rock Beach Club in Locust Valley and Laurel Hollow Beach.

The advisory was a precautionary measure because the runoff can raise bacteria levels so the waters fail to meet the New York State standards for swimming, health officials said.
