Nassau County plans ground spraying Wednesday night into Thursday morning in parts of five communities to help control the adult mosquito population, officials said.

The spraying by truck in parts of Cedarhurst, Inwood, Lawrence, Woodmere and Woodsburgh is based on updated mosquito trap data and consistent with the county's mosquito control plan, according to the Nassau public works and health departments.

Treatment is scheduled from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. for north of the coastline (Reynolds Channel); south of Peninsula Boulevard and the coastline; east of the Nassau-Queens border; and west of Woodmere Boulevard.

In the event of rain, spraying will be done 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., Thursday into Friday morning.

Maps of the areas scheduled to be treated can be found on nassaucountyny.gov/agencies/Health/index.html.

Additional information can be found by calling 888-694-9836, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on days treatment is scheduled.
