A Nassau County police officer, driving a marked patrol car en route to assist with an arrest, was involved in an accident late Wednesday night in Uniondale, suffering minor injuries, police said.

The identity of the officer was not released.

Police could not immediately say whether the patrol car was involved in a collision with another vehicle or if it was the lone vehicle involved.

The crash occurred on Front Street at about 10:15 p.m.

Police said the officer was en route to assist another officer, but could not immediately say if the lights and sirens on the patrol car were activated.

Police said the officer was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released.
