The Nassau County Police Department hosts its annual open house for the public from Wednesday through Friday this week behind its headquarters in Mineola.

Each day begins at 9:45 a.m. with members of the Canine Unit and Mounted Unit doing maneuvers and searches.

Each day ends with the departure of a police helicopter at 2:30 p.m.

In between those hours, there will be daily demonstrations of the work done by the Bureau of Special Operations, the Bomb Squad, the Emergency Services Bureau and other specialized police units.

“The exposition is designed to educate, inform and involve citizens of Nassau County to create a spirit of cooperation among the police officers and the communities they serve,” the department said in a news release.
