Nassau County police are searching for a man who they say assaulted two men walking in Freeport early Sunday.

Police said the two victims, 24 and 28, were walking near 50 N. Main St. at 1:35 a.m. when the man slashed one of them in the chest and stabbed the other in the abdomen.

Police said the suspect did not utter any words and did not issue any demands.

The victims were treated for nonlife-threatening injuries at Nassau University Medical Center and have been released, police said.

Police described the suspect as between 25 and 30 years old, with a stocky build, wearing a cap and white shirt with black stripes.

Police ask anyone with information about the crime to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. Calls are anonymous.
