After water main break, Merrick Road reopens in Massapequa, cops say
A water main break in Massapequa Park closed Merrick Road in both directions during Monday’s morning commute, Nassau County police said. The road reopened Monday evening, police said.
The road was closed shortly after 8:30 a.m. between Park and Cartwright boulevards, and drivers were advised to avoid the area, police said.
Massapequa High School’s main campus dismissed students early so that buses could use the additional time “to navigate the road closure,” the school said on its website.
Afternoon and evening activities were not affected, the school said.
