Nassau to do aerial spraying for West Nile
Nassau health officials will expand efforts to include aerial spraying in addition to the ground-spraying program Monday through Thursday to attempt to control mosquitoes and the spread of West Nile virus.
County officials said state health experts believe the aerial program will help diminish the threat to public health.
The aerial spraying area is bounded in the north by Northern Boulevard from the Queens line to Cedar Swamp Road, from Cedar Swamp Road south of Northern Boulevard to Jericho Turnpike, and from Jericho Turnpike to the Suffolk County line.
The southern boundary includes north of Sunrise Highway from the Queens border to the Wantagh State Parkway, excluding previously ground-sprayed areas, and north of the Southern State Parkway from the Wantagh Parkway to the Suffolk County line.
The eastern boundary is the Suffolk County line and the Western boundary is the Queens border.
Spraying will begin at 7 p.m. Monday and run to 5 a.m. Thursday. For additional information, call the West Nile Virus Spray Hotline at 888-844-8657.
