About 40 midshipmen from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., are to dock five sailboats along Freeport's Nautical Mile this morning to spend a weekend sharing their skills with the public.

Crews from the academy's Sail Training Squadron have visited the South Shore village during the summer for more than 10 years.

This time, the midshipmen are joined by three French exchange students, said Renee Mehl, the squadron's officer of tactical command.

The vessels are set to arrive at Woodcleft Canal around 10 a.m.

One of the boats will be open for tours Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. They are scheduled to depart Monday around 9 a.m.
