Nassau Police investigate after a car crashed through a bus shelter and struck three pedestrians on Union Turnpike in North New Hyde Park on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2016. Credit: Howard Schnapp

A car driven by an 88-year-old woman hit three people waiting at a bus stop on Union Turnpike in North New Hyde Park on Tuesday afternoon but all escaped with minor injuries, Nassau police said.

The woman “became disoriented and struck three people at a bus stop,” a police spokeswoman said.

There were “no serious injuries,” she added.

The location of the crash, which occurred at 5:09 p.m., was 1490 Union Tpke.

The injured were taken to the hospital, police said earlier.
