New Wantagh schools superintendent leaves post

The newly hired Wantagh superintendent of schools, Philip D'Angelo Jr., has left the district after less than three months on the job.
District officials did not return calls for comment. The district, in a short statement Thursday, said the school board approved D'Angelo's leave, effective last Friday.
As of Wednesday, Forest Lake Elementary School Principal Maureen Goldberg is the acting superintendent, the statement said. The school board will appoint an acting principal at Forest Lake "once a decision has been finalized," the statement said.
According to district documents from a May 2 meeting, D'Angelo was hired by the board effective July 1 at a salary of $227,000. He replaced Carl Bonuso, who had held the position on an interim basis.
D'Angelo most recently served six years as superintendent of Skaneateles Central School District in upstate New York.
D'Angelo could not be reached for comment.
