Suffolk County police detectives are investigating a fire early Sunday at a North Amityville home where a man was fatally shot Friday.

The fire at the two-story Somerset Road North Road home was reported about 12:45 a.m. Sunday, but police could not immediately say if there was a link between the shooting and the blaze.

First Precinct officers responded to the home Friday after a 911 caller reported a man had been shot around 6:30 p.m. after "an altercation," police said. The shooter had fled.

Officers found Elbert Wright, 28, dead from a gunshot wound, police said.

The incidents remain under investigation and detectives are asking anyone with information on the shooting to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
