A North Bellmore man was fatally injured Friday afternoon in a one-vehicle accident on the Meadowbrook State Parkway after he lost control because of rain-slicked pavement, State Police said.

Timothy Darwell, 58, was driving a 2008 white Toyota Tacoma when the vehicle ran off the road about 3:10 p.m. and struck a tree on the shoulder of the parkway just north of the Southern State Parkway, police said in a news release.

Darwell was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow where he died, police said.

Any witnesses to this accident are asked to call the State Police’s Troop L headquarters in Farmingdale at 631-756-3300.
