Jerusalem Avenue in North Bellmore has reopened after it was closed for about a half hour on Wednesday following reports of "a strong odor of gas" in the area.

The closure was announced at about 10:15 a.m. and affected the area between Little Neck Avenue and Newbridge Road, Nassau County police said. Police announced the road was reopened at about 10:45 a.m.

It was not clear whether National Grid had crews on scene. Calls to National Grid were not immediately returned.
