NYPD: Long Beach woman dies after Staten Island crash
A Long Islander has died after being critically injured in a two-vehicle crash last week in the Castleton Corners section of Staten Island, police said Tuesday.
Melodee Gabler, 61, of Long Beach, died Saturday at Richmond University Medical Center, where she had been since the crash on Oct. 10 at 10:15 a.m., the NYPD said.
Police said Gabler was driving a 2013 Honda Civic when her car collided with a 2016 Hyundai Tucson at the intersection of Westcott Boulevard and Crowell Avenue. The other driver, also a 61-year-old woman, declined medical attention.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the NYPD’s Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad.
