A man accused of firing a bullet that grazed the ear of a 4-year-old boy playing inside his Long Beach home was ordered held on $500,000 bond at his arraignment Saturday, police said.

Obe Isaac, 20, of Long Beach is charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal use of a firearm, and criminal possession of a weapon, police said. He was being held at the Nassau County Jail late Saturday. Isaac and another man were arguing in the Channel Park Homes public housing complex about 1:10 p.m. Friday when at least one shot was fired, police said.

A bullet pierced a metal roll-up security door of a first-floor apartment, then an inside wall, before grazing the boy's ear, police said. He was treated and released from Nassau University Medical Center, police said.

"We believe this incident was an escalation of a prior situation between two individuals who know each other," Lt. Mark Stark said. "This is an unacceptable situation . . . street justice will not be tolerated."

Detectives had identified the intended target, who did not want to cooperate, police said.Numerous shootings have occurred at the complex. In September, Isaac's cousin Tyrenzo Brown, 28, was fatally shot there. Three years ago, Isaac himself was shot across from the police station by a fellow high school student, police said.
