Oceanside baby-sitter accused in $10K theft

An Oceanside woman who worked as a baby-sitter in East Rockaway was arrested Saturday for stealing thousands in cash and other items from her employer's home over more than two months, Nassau police said.
Mirjana Cindric, 30, of Foxdale Avenue, is suspected in the theft of more than $10,000 in cash, jewelry and silver from the Main Street home where she had worked, police said. Police said the thefts occurred between Nov. 28, 2011, and Feb. 13, 2012.
On Feb. 17, detectives from the Crimes Against Property Squad helped to recover the victims' jewelry and silver from A&A Goldbuyers in East Meadow, IC Gold/OK Pawn Brokers in Baldwin, and Enterprise Pawn Brokers in Elmont.
Police arrested Cindric in front of her home at 9 a.m. Saturday. She was found to have two stolen credit cards as well as a loan receipt from OK Pawn Brokers for a diamond ring that belonged to the victims, police said.
Cindric was charged with third-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. She was arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead and ordered held on $6,000 bond or $3,000 cash bail. She is due back in court on Wednesday.
