A 67-year-old woman struck by a car Friday night while crossing the street in Oceanside has died, Nassau County police said Saturday.

The identity of the deceased woman was not released.

The woman was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of Atlantic Avenue, near Terrell Avenue, when she was struck by a 2013 Chevrolet Cruz traveling west shortly before 8 p.m., police said.

The pedestrian died of her injuries at an area hospital, police said.

Police said the driver of the Chevrolet remained on the scene. The driver was not identified.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
