A 7-year-old child was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle in Old Bethpage on Saturday afternoon, according to a law enforcement official.

Investigators believe the child may have run out into the street on Winding Road near Round Swamp Road at about 3:15 p.m., the official said.

That is when a vehicle, believed to be a Mercedes, struck the child, the official said. The victim was in serious condition Saturday night at a hospital.

The driver stayed at the scene and is not expected to be charged with a crime, the official said.
