A least one occupant of a house that went on fire Monday afternoon in New Cassel made it out safely, a fire official said.
It was not immediately known if there were any injuries.
The call reporting the fire at the home on Sheridan Street was received at about 11:45 a.m., a Nassau County police spokesman said.
A Westbury Fire Department spokesman said at least one person was in the house at the time of the fire, but that person, and perhaps others, made it out.
