A body was found inside a vehicle that burst into flames Friday afternoon in a Jones Beach parking lot, authorities said.

State parks police, the Nassau County fire marshal’s office and other agencies responded.

The incident was under investigation and further details were not immediately available.

When Wantagh firefighters responded about 4:30 p.m., the SUV was ablaze, said First Assistant Chief Joe Gross.

Firefighters had the blaze under control in 15 minutes, Gross said, and when one of his captains looked inside, he saw the body in the front passenger seat.
