After a bomb threat Friday, Hempstead Town Hall was evacuated, officials said.

"There was a bomb threat earlier today," Hempstead Town spokesman Michael Deery said. "The building is evacuated."

About 1:30 p.m., the search of the building at 1 Washington St. was being completed with nothing found, said Hempstead Village police, who responded along with Nassau County Bomb Squad.

Deery said the building was evacuated at 11:47 a.m.

Employees were permitted back inside the buildings around 4:30 p.m., officials said.
