Officials: Fire at East Meadow restaurant

The East Meadow Fire Department responded Tuesday night to a fire at a restaurant on Hempstead Turnpike located across the roadway from Nassau University Medical Center, officials said.
The fire at 2230 Hempstead Tpke. was reported about 10:30 p.m., officials said.
Hempstead Turnpike eastbound was closed to traffic in the vicinity of the fire, Nassau police said.
No information was immediately available concerning the extent of the fire.
