Firefighters from two departments battled an early morning fire that damaged multifamily homes Wednesday in East Meadow, officials said.

The fire at the homes on Front Street was reported just after 8 a.m., Nassau County police and fire officials said.

Fire officials said volunteers from East Meadow and North Bellmore responded and said that the fire was under control by 8:45 a.m. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Officials said there were no reported injuries.
