A passenger in a vehicle whose driver lost control was killed in Old Brookville on Thursday afternoon, Nassau County police said.

Michael Lotito, 58, of Jericho, was in the back seat of a Toyota when the driver hit a concrete retaining wall about 3 p.m. as he headed south on Cedar Swamp Road, near Country Lane, police said.

The collision left the Toyota stalled in the road, where it was struck by a southbound Hyundai, police said.

Lotito was taken to Syosset Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Toyota's driver, a 56-year-old man, was treated at a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. The Hyundai driver was not hurt.

Homicide detectives said the investigation was ongoing.
