Police: Man hit, killed crossing Old Country Road in Plainview

A 54-year-old man was killed early Thursday when he was hit by a car as he crossed Old Country Road in Plainview, Nassau County, police said.
The 71-year-old driver of the car remained at the scene and the investigation was continuing, police said.
The victim was crossing the roadway south to north when he was hit by a westbound 2018 Mercedes-Benz at 5:20 a.m. just west of Central Park Road, police said.
He was pronounced dead at 6:01 a.m. at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, police said.
Old Country Road was closed in both directions for more than three hours, reopening shortly after 9 a.m., police said.
The identity of the victim was not released pending notification of his family, police said.
