A single car crash in Old Westbury Saturday night left the passenger dead and the driver in critical condition, Nassau police said Sunday.

A 24-year-old man, who police did not identify, was driving a 2004 Nissan Maxima eastbound on the South Service Road of the Long Island Expressway approaching Post Road when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a curb on Store Hill Road about 7:16 p.m., police said.

The Maxima continued traveling about 40 feet and collided into a tree, police said. The driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The passenger, identified by police as German Enrique Molina, 24, of Mineola, was pronounced deceased by emergency room staff of Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow at 7:59 p.m.

Molina’s family could not be reached for comment.

Nassau police said the investigation by the department’s Homicide Squad is ongoing, but there is “no criminality at this time.” The vehicle was impounded for brake and safety checks.
