A morning rush-hour eight-car accident closed one lane of eastbound Merrick Road in Freeport for about two hours Monday, police said.

One person, a woman, suffered a minor injury, Nassau County police said.

The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said. It was not immediately clear if she was admitted -- or was treated and released.

The accident was reported at 7:55 a.m. eastbound on Merrick Road at the Meadowbrook Parkway. Police said emergency crews were on the scene until just after 10 a.m. It was not immediately known what caused the crash, police said.
