An overturned car that crashed into a wooded area along the eastbound Northern State Parkway Friday morning left one person hospitalized and snarled traffic near Exit 31 in Westbury, state police said.

Eastbound travel lanes were briefly closed, but were reopened at 8:51 a.m.

Authorities were still on the scene after that, attempting to remove the vehicle from woods bordering the road.

Police said the crash occurred at about 8:30 a.m. - and confirmed one person had been transported to Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola with what were described as nonlife-threatening injuries.

Westbound traffic was not affected by the crash.
