One person killed in Freeport house fire

A 75-year-old woman died Friday night in a house fire in Freeport, but a male occupant escaped unharmed, Nassau County police said.
The Freeport Fire Department responded to blaze on Jay Street at 7:29 p.m.
Police said two people were home at the time of the fire: the unidentified female and a 44-year-old man who police have also not identified.
The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
