Nassau County police are investigating a Saturday night robbery that occurred in Roslyn Heights after a contact made online.

Police said a man, 36, came to a Carlyle Place location to buy a car he saw advertised on Craigslist. When the victim arrived, he realized there was no car at the meetup spot, police said. Then he saw two men approach, police said.

The first man attempted to speak with the victim and spoke on his cellphone, in order to distract the victim, while the second man pointed a black handgun and demanded cash from the victim, police said.

That man struck the victim in the head with the handgun and took cash from him, as well as his cellphone and his wallet.

The two men ran away, heading east on Willow Street.

The victim declined treatment at the scene.

Police said anyone with information about the crime can make an anonymous call at 800-244-TIPS.
