Two cars overturned after crashing Thursday morning on the northbound Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway in Bethpage, briefly closing the roadway, Nassau police and fire officials said.

The crash occurred between Exits 7 and 8 at about 7:45 a.m. Police did not have details of the accident.

Bethpage Fire Department spokesman John Fitzwilliam said the two drivers were taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow for nonlife-threatening injuries: "Both the occupants got out on their own before the arrival of the police and the fire department."

About 15 firefighter and ambulance volunteers responded, he said.

The New York State Department of Transportation reported it was cleared and the road reopened at 8:26 a.m.
