The Oyster Bay Town Board last week approved contracts of up to $75,000 for Linda Mondello and PR Inc. to provide historic preservation and to develop special events at a town park known as the Littauer Estate in Oyster Bay Cove.
The contracts run from March 1, 2016 through Dec. 31, 2018, with an option for one, two-year extension. The town first hired Mondelllo, who is the wife of Nassau County Republican Committee chairman Joseph Mondello, as a $100 an hour consultant to oversee preservation on the 26-acre farm in 2007.
The most recent contract, which also went to Mondello and PR Inc., expired on Nov. 31, 2015. Parks commissioner Frank Nocerino last week said during a town board meeting that the town put out requests for proposals for the contracts in November and December. Linda Mondello and PR Inc., won that bid.
The board last week also approved paying Douglas A. Wilke, Architects & Engineers $12,500 for engineering services to implement repairing the base structure of the house at the estate.
The town has hired Wilke, a Glen Head-based architect, to do work on the site in the past, authorizing payments of up to $157,500 to Wilke for drawings related to construction work.
