Part of Wantagh Parkway closed Sunday morning

Roads will be closed in Brentwood and southern Nassau County on Sunday.

The northbound Wantagh State Parkway is closed from Ocean Parkway to Merrick Road in Wantagh and will reopen around 1 p.m., police said. The parkway is closed because of a memorial bicycle ride for Matthew Scarpati, a Dix Hills man who died in a car accident in July.

Fifth Avenue in Brentwood will be shut down from Spur Drive North to Suffolk Avenue from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. because of the Adelante Day Parade, police said.

Police advised drivers in the area to consider alternate routes.
