Pedestrian, 21, critical after hit by car
A 21-year-old Bellmore man is in critical condition Friday after he was struck by a car Thursday morning while crossing Hempstead Avenue in South Hempstead, according to Nassau County police.
The accident occurred at 9:12 a.m. near Locust Street, which is near the Molloy College campus in Rockville Centre.
The man, who is not a Molloy student, was hit by a 2004 Infiniti, police said.
The driver is a Molloy College employee who was in a private vehicle, said Ken Young, a spokesman for the college.
"Our thoughts are with the young man and his family," Young said.
The victim remains listed in critical condition at an area hospital, police said, and no charges were filed against the driver.
