Pedestrian, 70, dies after he’s hit on Island Park street
Nassau homicide detectives are investigating a motor vehicle accident that took the life of a Northport man who was walking on an Island Park street Monday morning, police said.
The victim, Jan Kalas, 70, was pronounced dead by a Nassau County police medic at the scene, on Austin Boulevard at the intersection of Marina Path, police said.
Kalas was struck by a 74-year-old man who was driving south in a 2014 Honda Civic on Austin Boulevard, police said.
No criminal charges are expected to be filed.
