Authorities are investigating a “serious” pedestrian accident Saturday night in Manhasset that left the victim with head and internal injuries, Nassau County police said.

Police said the accident involving a pedestrian happened shortly after 6:15 p.m. in Manhasset.

Detectives said that while attempting to cross Searingtown Road at Northern Boulevard from west to east, a man, 35, was struck by a 2000 Lincoln Navigator traveling southbound in the right lane.

Police said the female driver, 60, did not suffer any injuries and remained at the scene.

“As a result of the collision, the pedestrian suffered serious head and internal injuries,” a news release said. Police said the victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Police said the vehicle was impounded for brake testing and the investigation is continuing.
