Pedestrian crossing Mineola street killed

A 59-year-old woman crossing a street Thursday evening in Mineola was struck and killed by a vehicle, Nassau County police said.

The accident occurred about 6 p.m. on Mineola Boulevard near Grant Street, police said.

The driver, whose name was not immediately released, was arrested on a charge of leaving the scene, police said.

Police did not provide additional details.
