Pedestrian fatally struck by SUV in Hicksville, police say
A 78-year-old man died after he was struck by a sport utility vehicle Monday morning while crossing Newbridge Road in Hicksville, Nassau County police said.
Police have not released the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
The accident occurred on Newbridge Road at West John Street at 6:29 a.m. Police said the victim was struck by a white 2008 Ford Escape, whose 52-year-old female driver remained at the scene.
The victim was transported to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, where he died at 6:54 a.m., police said.
The investigation into the accident is continuing.
