Pedestrian killed when hit by truck crossing Lawrence street

A man crossing a street in Lawrence died after being hit by a truck Thursday, Nassau police said.
Naftali Rhodes, 34, of Far Rockaway, was walking on Nassau Expressway about 1:45 p.m. when a northbound Freightliner truck driven by a 37-year-old man struck him near Central Avenue, police said.
Rhodes was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Homicide detectives are investigating the death.
