Pedestrian hit by car in Freeport

A pedestrian struck by a car in Freeport early Monday afternoon is being airlifted to Nassau University Medical Center, Nassau County police said.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and West End Avenue at 12:48 p.m., police said. The circumstances surrounding the accident were not immediately known -- and police said details were still emerging.
