A man crossing a major road in Long Beach was struck and killed by a car Thursday morning, Long Beach police said.

Authorities identified the man as Ronald Tisi, 57, of Long Beach.

Lt. Eric Cregeen said the driver who struck Tisi stayed at the scene and was not charged in the accident, which occurred just before 5:30 a.m. at Long Beach Boulevard and East Park Avenue.

Tisi was walking north with a friend on Long Beach Boulevard and was crossing East Park when he was struck by a black 2008 Toyota headed east in the center lane, police said.

Police said he was taken to South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, where he died about an hour later.

The accident remains under investigation, police said.
