Pedestrian hit by van in Merrick survives
A 54-year-old man suffered head trauma and broken bones but no life-threatening injuries when he was struck by a van while attempting to cross Merrick Road in Merrick Thursday evening, Nassau County police said.
The accident occurred on westbound Merrick Road at 6:14 p.m., police said.
Police said the vehicle involved was a 2008 Chevrolet van -- and said the driver was not charged.
Police said Merrick Fire Department ambulance took the injured man to a hospital and said the man was in stable condition.
The victim and van driver were not identified.
