New Hyde Park pedestrian injured in crash with cement truck, cops say
A pedestrian crossing the street in New Hyde Park Tuesday morning was hit by a cement truck, leaving him seriously injured, police said.
The unidentified 57-year-old man was hit by the 2016 truck traveling southbound on Covert Avenue at the intersection of Jericho Turnpike at 10:52 a.m., Nassau County police said.
The unidentified 30-year-old driver stopped and called police, and the pedestrian was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, police said.
"Detectives report no apparent criminality with the accident at this time," police said in a statement. "The vehicle was given a brake and safety inspection at scene and released to driver."
