A pedestrian died after being struck twice by vehicles as he crossed Peninsula Boulevard in Hempstead early Tuesday morning, Nassau County police said.

Police said the man, Rene Antonio Iraheta Ramos, 36, of Hempstead, was crossing Peninsula Boulevard near the intersection of President Street when he was struck by a 2003 Honda Civic that was traveling northbound on Peninsula Boulevard.

Police said the car was driven by a 47-year-old man.

Ramos was then struck by a second vehicle, a 2018 Dodge utility van, also traveling northbound on Peninsula Boulevard driven by a 54-year-old man.

The accident happened at 4:35 a.m. Police did not name the motorists.

Both vehicles remained at the scene. Ramos was pronounced dead at the scene by a Northwell Hospital Emergency Medical Technician, police said.
