Nassau County police said a driver struck and killed a pedestrian in Uniondale Thursday night.

Police said an 83-year-old man was driving a 2010 GMC headed west on Jerusalem Avenue when he hit a 72-year-old man near Edgemere Avenue around 11:23 p.m. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver remained at the scene and was not injured, police said.

Police have not identified the driver or the pedestrian.

Police checked the GMC for a brake and safety check.
