Woman killed crossing street in Hicksville hit-run, police say

A woman attempting to cross a Hicksville street was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver early Tuesday morning, Nassau County police said.

According to detectives, Gladis Bonilla, 54, of Westbury, was struck by a vehicle at 5:45 a.m. while crossing West John Street at the intersection of Kuhl Avenue. The vehicle then left the scene in an unknown direction, police said.

Bonilla, who suffered multiple traumatic injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
