Nassau County police are investigating the death of a man who was fatally struck by a vehicle in Westbury Saturday night, a department spokesman said.

Police said that Sham Lal, 66, of Westbury, was attempting to cross Old Country Road near South Grand Street, when he was struck by a 2006 Mercedes at 9:55 p.m.

Lal suffered multiple trauma injuries, police said, and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 58-year-old male, stayed at the scene and called 911.
